- The pursuit of happiness can lead to unhappiness: When we make happiness a goal, it can become an unattainable outcome, causing us to feel unhappy and unsatisfied.
- The person who is fully satisfied is not fully present: When we make happiness our goal, we're essentially saying "I'll be happy when...". This means we're never fully present in the moment, as happiness is always something we're chasing.
- The focus should be on being happy in the moment, not on the goal: Instead of striving for happiness, we should focus on being happy with what we have in the present moment.
